Definition: Tagging Up
When a baserunner waits on base until a fly ball is caught before advancing to the next base. If they leave too early, they can be called out on appeal.
Tagging up can also happens if a runner advanced but hasn’t touched the next base. In this case, they can return and “tag up” on the base they started at if a ball is caught for an out.
