Drawing a softball is super simple and fun! Here’s a quick guide with 3 easy steps to teach you how to draw a softball or baseball.
How to Draw a Softball in 3 Steps
- Start by drawing a large circle as your base shape. If you want a perfect circle, you can try tracing the bottom of a cup!
- Add the seams: draw two curved “smile” lines on opposite sides of the circle.
- Finish it off by drawing lots of small “V” shaped stitches along those curves.

Bonus Step: Colouring
If you want to colour in your ball, use a bright yellow shade so it looks like a real softball! Then, trace over your V-shaped stitches in red so they stand out.
To make a baseball instead of the softball, leave the circle white and make the stitches red.
You can also add a little shading to create depth and shadows on your ball and make it more realistic-looking.

Fun fact: Believe it or not, early softballs were often white, but yellow has since become the standard in most fastpitch and slo-pitch leagues today.
