Designated Hitter (DH)

📖

Definition

Definition: A player listed on the lineup card who only bats and is replaced on defense by the Defensive Position (Flex) player. This term is preferred over "Designated Player" (DP) in many leagues. Rule/Context Note: The DH must bat in the same spot in the lineup throughout the game. They can also re-enter the game one time. When It Matters: Optimizing offense, managing injuries, substitution rules. Interlinks: Defensive Position (Flex) • Batting Order • Re-Entry Rule
