How to throw a softball
Last updated: September 21, 2025
Throwing a softball starts with a good grip, usually with two or three fingers across the seams for control. Stand sideways to your target, step forward with your opposite foot, and rotate your body as you bring your arm overhand in a smooth motion.
Release the ball with your fingers pointing toward your target, and follow through with your throwing arm across your body. Proper throwing mechanics ensure accuracy and prevent injury.
