How to break in a softball glove

A new softball glove is usually stiff and needs breaking in before it can be used comfortably. One of the most effective methods is simply to play catch regularly, as the repeated motion helps shape the glove to your hand.

Other ways include applying glove oil or conditioner to soften the leather, then working the pocket by repeatedly pressing a ball into it. Some players wrap their glove tightly around a ball and secure it with string to let it break in more overnight. Keeping a ball in the glove also helps to form the pocket more quickly.

The goal is to create a flexible, comfortable glove without damaging the leather.
